Description

My practice incorporates a range of specialized modalities and technologies, including myofascial release to address deep tissue restrictions and improve biomechanical function; cryotherapy to reduce inflammation, accelerate healing, and manage pain in acute or chronic conditions; kinesiology taping to support muscle function, reduce strain, and aid in recovery; and stretching protocols to improve flexibility, enhance range of motion, and support overall musculoskeletal health. These techniques allow me to tailor each session to the unique needs of the horse, whether it's a competitive athlete, a working partner, or a beloved companion.

Hi, I’m Shannon McKinney, the heart behind O.M. Equiworks. Like many of us, my passion for horses started at a young age. I began training and showing horses locally in the Midwest town I grew up in, eventually making my way to competing on the AQHA circuit as a teen. I was a “horse girl” through and through. After starting my career and becoming a mother, I promised myself that I would find my way back to horses. A few years ago this became a reality and it wasn’t long before I knew that horses were meant to be a bigger part of my life. I wanted to find a way to connect and be a part of a care team to help others achieve their equestrian dreams. After attending Northwest School of Animal Massage in Vashon, WA, I am now a licensed equine massage therapist certified through the National Board of Certification of Animal Acupressure and Massage (NBCAAM). I'm dedicated to enhancing the health, performance, and overall well-being of horses through advanced therapeutic bodywork. With a deep-rooted passion for equine care and years of hands-on experience, I lead with a compassionate, intuitive approach to deliver customized treatments that support performance, mobility, and long-term vitality. I am happy to work with horses of all disciplines and breeds. I believe that patience and understanding is key when developing a working relationship with an equine client, even those whose trust is hard earned. I’m happy to work closely with veterinarians, trainers, other equine professionals, and horse owners to develop integrative wellness plans that complement current care and training regimens. One of the most important aspects of my work is building a positive relationship with both horses and humans so that we can create a supportive environment that prioritizes collaboration, connection, and results. Outside of my practice, I enjoy working with my own horses; leading educational tours at my home, Opal Meadows Farm in Graham, WA; and supporting my family in their own hobbies and interests.
